The gemological training program proposed by GECI is defined by its integrity and professionalism in teaching because it aims to prepare the future proponents of the jewelry industry in Italy and the world.
The educational philosophy of GECI is born of the experience of its instructors and it is enriched by laboratory research on a daily basis. The educational programs are developed based on the latest innovations in the didactic field and the gemological research, supported by innovative technologies.
Our gemology courses in English and Italian include both academic lectures and practical work, through the use of laboratory-classrooms and cutting edge gemological instrumentation, with the options of taking distance courses or evening classes.
Our students have the opportunity to work with many gems of different nature and origin on a daily basis, and examine more than 2,000 stones throughout the course. They also meet with specialists and professionals from the trade for case histories and seminars. GECI has one of the most important collections of colored gemstones in Europe, and offers a great first experience for the identification and analysis of colored gemstones.
The gemological skills acquired from our courses are recognized both nationally and internationally, and at the end of all educational courses students receive a diploma, a certificate or a letter of attendance.
With the aim of spreading the gemological knowledge and culture through a complete teaching method, GECI offers various models of education:
RESIDENT COURSES | Both theoretical and practical courses, during which students have the opportunity to work daily with diamonds and various gemstones, examining more than 2,000 stones out of a total of 8,000 gems available in our laboratory. In addition, during the laboratory hours students will develop the practical skills of a true gem and jewelry expert and will use modern equipment, benefiting from the individual attention of a highly competent GECI instructor.
DISTANCE COURSES | Courses are divided into independent lectures that the students can attend by accessing their personal pages on the GECI website, and practical lessons that are to be carried out in the laboratory. Students download the course material by logging on to the Institute’s website, and are able to send in their responses to the questionnaires, receive corrections and monitor their progress.
DEDICATED SEMINAR | Short-term modules on a wide variety of topics: the workshops can be theoretical or practical. Topics range from diamonds, colored stones, pearls, and their identification or classification. Additional modules cover the history of jewelry, design and sketching.
ADVANCED SEMINAR | Advanced and specialized seminars, both theoretical and practical, focused on the analysis of rubies, sapphires, emeralds, advanced technologies and synthetic diamonds.
CORPORATE PROGRAM ON DEMAND | Courses created, developed and tailored to the needs of your business, in order to provide your employees with the appropriate training for your company’s requirements.
